The Foundation in Action: Direct Support for Women Weavers in Peru
Maricela Lancoud and Danièla Dufour, members of the board of the Philippe and Elisabeth Dufour Foundation, are currently on the ground in Peru, working directly with women weavers as part of the MANOS PERUANAS project. These women, who specialize in making straw hats, have been severely impacted by the devastating natural phenomenon "El Niño," which has ravaged the Peruvian coast, destroying their homes and means of livelihood.
The foundation's direct presence on the ground highlights our commitment to supporting these women not only through material resources but also through human and solidaristic assistance. By standing alongside these weavers, we ensure that we fully understand their needs and support them at every step of rebuilding their lives and their craft. Our intervention is not limited to remote aid; we are there with them to provide immediate and sustainable support, working together to rebuild their future.
This project aims to restore not only the means of livelihood for the women weavers but also their dignity, by revitalizing their traditional skills and providing them with the tools needed to access new markets. Our on-the-ground presence ensures that each action taken directly addresses the beneficiaries' needs, thereby guaranteeing a real and significant impact.
